I AM FreeBird
The Woman Behind the Wings
My journey through survival, healing, awakening, and remembering who I AM.
Hey, beautiful souls!
I'm Amanda Mae, the heart, soul, and slightly rebellious spirit behind FreeBird Healing.
And before I tell you what I do, I want to tell you a little about who I AM.
Because FreeBird Healing isn't just a name, a brand, or a business.
It's a piece of my soul. It's my story. It's my becoming.
Before I Found My Wings
I wasn't always this version of myself.
My journey has been anything but traditional. I've walked through childhood trauma, addiction, unhealthy relationships, heartbreak, and seasons of my life when I barely recognized the woman staring back at me.
For a long time, I lived in survival mode.
I learned how to be strong before I ever learned how to feel safe. I learned how to take care of everyone else while quietly abandoning pieces of myself.
And somewhere along the way, I forgot who I was.
But here's something I've come to understand:
Sometimes the very experiences that threaten to destroy us become the catalysts for our greatest transformation.
Not because the pain was necessary. Not because we deserved it. But because we have the power to decide what happens next.
And one day, I decided I wanted more than survival.
I wanted to LIVE.
The Day I Chose Myself
Healing didn't arrive wrapped in a pretty little bow.
It was messy. Uncomfortable. Exhausting. Beautiful. And sometimes downright ugly.
It meant looking at wounds I'd spent years avoiding. Questioning beliefs that were never mine to begin with. Learning boundaries. Rebuilding trust with myself. And realizing that loving myself wasn't selfish.
It was necessary.
I began reconnecting with my body, my intuition, my spirituality, and the natural world.
I lost over 160 pounds naturally, but the greatest weight I ever released wasn't physical.
It was the weight of everything I had been carrying that was never mine to hold.
The shame. The fear. The expectations. The belief that I somehow needed to earn my worth.
And slowly, something shifted.
I stopped asking who I was supposed to be.
I started remembering who I AM.
The Birth of FreeBird Healing
FreeBird Healing was born from that remembrance.
From the understanding that healing isn't about fixing something broken.
It's about reconnecting with the parts of ourselves we've forgotten, silenced, or buried beneath years of survival.
Today, I'm a Licensed Natural Medicine Handler and Educator in Colorado, a plant medicine advocate, and a trauma-informed spiritual and intuitive healing practitioner.
My work brings together plant medicine education, spiritual coaching, mindfulness, personal growth, and the wisdom that comes from lived experience.
I believe nature has so much to teach us.
I believe connection heals ALL wounds.
I believe healing deserves compassion, curiosity, and intention.
And I believe we can honor ancient wisdom while embracing modern research, responsible education, and informed choices.
Plant medicine is a gift from the earth, a way to honor our ancestors and their traditions and remember who we are at our root.
But I also know that no single plant, practice, or person holds all the answers.
Healing is deeply personal. There is no one-size-fits-all journey.
Heal the Root So the Tree Becomes Stable
One of the most powerful lessons I've learned is that we cannot create lasting change by tending only to what's visible on the surface.
We have to get curious about the roots.
The childhood experiences. The survival patterns. The stories we tell ourselves. The beliefs we've inherited. The ways our nervous systems learned to protect us.
When we begin understanding those roots, we create space for something different to grow.
More self-awareness.
More compassion.
More intentional choices.
More freedom.
And that, beautiful souls, is what FreeBird Healing is all about.
Not becoming someone new.
Remembering who you were before the world told you who to be.
What You'll Find Here
This little corner of the Uni is a place for connection, education, inspiration, and growth.
Here, we'll explore plant medicine and emerging research, nervous system awareness, spiritual awakening, mindfulness, self-love, recovery, boundaries, and the beautifully imperfect process of being human.
I'll share educational resources, personal reflections, healing rituals, journal prompts, and pieces of my own journey.
Some days we'll get deep.
Some days we'll get a little woo-woo.
Some days we'll laugh, swear, cry, and question everything we thought we knew.
Because healing doesn't have to look perfect to be powerful.
And spirituality doesn't mean pretending life is all sunshine and rainbows.
Sometimes it's looking at the chaos and saying, "Not today, Uni. I've got wings to grow."
So, Who Am I?
I AM a woman who has survived.
I AM a woman who has struggled.
I AM a mother, a student of life, a creator, an educator, and an ever-evolving soul.
I AM someone who has made mistakes, learned hard lessons, and chosen to keep growing.
I AM not defined by my trauma, my past, or the opinions of people who only knew the version of me that was trying to survive.
I AM love.
I AM light.
I AM whole.
I AM healed.
I AM complete.
I AM becoming.
I AM FreeBird.
And if you've found your way here, perhaps there's a little FreeBird in you, too.
Welcome to the Beginning
If there's one thing I hope you carry away from this space, it's this:
You are allowed to change.
You are allowed to outgrow old versions of yourself.
You are allowed to question everything, rewrite your story, and build a life that feels like your own.
You don't have to have it all figured out.
You just have to be willing to take the first step
.
Because I believe that even in our hardest chapters, there is possibility waiting to be discovered.
And sometimes the most beautiful thing we can do is finally give ourselves permission to fly.
Welcome to FreeBird Healing. I'm so glad you're here.
With love, respect, and intention,
Amanda Mae
